MUSICIANS PHYSIO

Music is Physical.

Musicians of all levels need someone who understands the demands of hours of practice, the stress of one chance auditions, the unique physical and mental stress of performance and the simple truth that the show must go on.
Only rarely is rest our first option.

I can help you work out why you have pain, how to play on while fixing it and how to keep pain away.

Through my consulting role with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (11 years) and helping musicians of all ages and abilities, I have a strong working knowledge of musicians’ playing related injuries, the physical stresses involved and practical solutions to reduce pain, play with freedom and even improve performance.

I was twice Vice-President of the Australian Society of Performing Arts Healthcare – ASPAH and a current member of PAMA, ensuring both my clinical knowledge is up-to-date and my international network of like-minded health professionals allows me to collaborate when needed for your care.

When needed I am happy to discuss your situation with your teachers to ensure all parties are working together.

I can help you with:

Recurring pain in neck, shoulders, elbow, forearms, wrists, hands, mid & lower back

Loss of finger speed, power and dexterity

Playing tension - the major cause of pain

Complete rehabilitation and return to stage

Postural awareness and endurance

General & instrument specific conditioning
